ConsultationProviding advice and instruction on farm management based on data analysis

In addition to offering consultations to our farmers regarding production technologies,
we also actively provide them with focused support for farm management.

Management support that ensures a solid group

Profitable farm management is essential for producing healthy pigs and delicious pork – this is a fundamental principle at Global Pig Farms. We therefore ensure that all of our group farms are incorporated, and commit ourselves to helping them realize improvements on the financial front.

Each of our group farms submits financial statements, enabling us to share accurate management data and to formulate comparative financial assessment charts. This allows individual farmers to gauge their performance in comparison with others, enabling them to recognize their management weak points and identify the improvements they need to make.

This system has allowed individual farm producers to make progress by striving to improve quality and reduce costs while competing with each other. As a result, none of our farmers have dropped out of our group since its foundation, and all are today operating at a profit.

▲Numerical values provide criteria for judging the performance of individual farms, and are collected as data for each farm

In the fiscal year ended February 2015, capital ratio reached 50% and return on assets was 10% or higher at half of our farms. Farmers who previously relied on loans and subsidies for investment in facilities are now able to use internal capital. The use of internal capital strongly enhances management capacity.

Health management based on natural farming At present, we have seven Consulting Veterinarians on staff. Specialists in the area of farmed pigs, they conduct regular visits to our Waton Mochibuta farms across the country. Rather than simply giving injections to pigs suffering from diseases, our veterinarians offer consultations to farmers concerning ways to boost the animals’ natural resistance and immunity in order to prevent disease. They provide instruction in the management of health on the farm, based on the principles of natural birth and natural rearing.

Our Consulting Veterinarians are also engaged in environment management, including the design and layout of piggeries and the proposal of potential improvements. We believe that piggeries that are rationally designed with an understanding of the animals’ specific characteristics and maintained with a high standard of hygiene are essential to the raising of healthy pigs that are rationally designed with an understanding of the animals’ nature and maintained with a high standard of hygiene are essential to the raising of healthy pigs.

Supporting farmers based on accumulated data Data on the growth of each pig reared on our group farms are stored in a computer database and managed by a supervising veterinarian. This enables our veterinarians to provide detailed on-site consultations based on accumulated data at each of our farms. They also use data on mating and birth to analyze the influence of factors that might affect productivity, and to confirm that the pigs are being managed correctly, etc.
